Peer support occurs when people with personal experience provide knowledge, emotional, social or practical help to each other. It commonly refers to an initiative consisting of trained supporters and can take a number of forms such as peer mentoring, listening and advocacy.
At Free Your Mind we understand how hard it can be to open up, trust, and talk to someone about the things you have experienced. 80% of the people that work with us to support children and young people have also been affected by Childhood Domestic Violence, trained by us and DBS checked.
We know how important it is for young people to be able to relate to the people around them.
Become a peer support mentor and help other Children and Young people that have been affected by Childhood Domestic Violence.
We are currently looking for volunteer peer mentors in London and the Birmingham area (must have personal experience of Childhood Domestic Violence to be considered with a current DBS).
You must be over the age of 18, with a clean DBS or are happy to be DBS checked and meet the requirements above.
Ready to apply? Contact us via the form telling us more about yourself, where you are based and why you would like to be a peer mentor!
